Kindergarten Program (48 months to 67 months)

Some children are here with us all day for our enriched kindergarten program. Others will go to the public school either in the morning or afternoon and join us for the rest of the day. We have a transportation service for those children who go to schools in the neighborhood.

Programming

Our caring staff of experienced professionals offers each child the opportunity to grow in all developmental areas at his/her own rate. Through varied experiences and with guidance we stimulate your child’s own curiosity, social interaction, communication, motor skills, creative expression and self-esteem. Areas that the program covers are as follows:

Language:

There are four main aspects; listening, speaking, reading and writing. Reading is taught by the ‘phonetic’ method. Phonetic means by sound so we teach the child according to the sounds made by each letter of the alphabet. Our reading program includes shared reading, guided reading and eventually independent reading.

Speaking is encouraged for children to develop their inter-communication and social skills. Children will learn to draw patterns and then print letters of the alphabet. They will also learn to provide words that begin with a certain letter of the alphabet.

Math:

Cultural Subjects i.e.: Science, Geography and History

Science: The child’s knowledge of the world he lives in will be enhanced. They will observe science experiments being conducted and will be able to use their scientific minds to understand cause and effect in experiments. We will touch on some favorite topics like our solar system, , Air, Water and Sunlight., ocean life, dinosaurs to name a few.

Geography: The child will be introduced to the “globe”. The child’s curiosity will be stimulated about how children live in different parts of the world. Children will learn the four food groups, healthy minds and healthy body,

History: Children will learn the concept of time i.e.: day calendar, monthly calendar, season’s calendar, weather calendar. They will be introduced to the Pre-Historic time and how people lived in that time. They will use they imagination to think about what the future would be like to live in.

Music: Our music program develops an awareness and understanding of moods, feelings and emotions. It includes a balanced activity in listening, performing and creating through singing, music appreciation and simple instrument. Children will learn to sing songs as a group according to rhythm, harmony and tone.

Art: The art program helps to develop the whole person. It constitutes drawing, painting and printmaking. There will be directed art and creative art. Children will explore colors, different textures i.e.: play dough, silly putty, paint with shaving cream, mixing of colors etc and color recognition.
